CONFERENCE NEWS & NOTES
• ESPN has selected Mississippi Valley State to be featured on ESPNU. This game will be nationally televised on Saturday, April 26 , the Devilettes will face the Lady Tigers of Jackson State at 3:30 p.m. CT
• In-state rivals Alabama State traveled to Alabama A&M and ASU sweep AAMU in three game series as Jackson State did the same at Alcorn State.
•Jackson State University clinched the Eastern Divison title, they are currently boasting the best Southwestern Athletic Conference record, JSU is currently 14-0 in conference play.
• Jackson State remains number one for the Eastern Divison, they currently stand at 21-24 overall. Texas Southern reclaimes first place for the Western Division. TSU currently stands at 20-16
• Alabama State remains number one in the league with 26 homers, Meagan Dixon from ASU leads the conference with 10
• This week ASU’s Meagan Dixon leads the league with the highest batting average of .446 and Texas Southern’s Princess trails with .422 and Brenicia Woods from Prairie View comes in at number three with a .421 batting average.
• Texas Southern tops the league with the most RBI, registering 200, while ASU comes in with 175 and JSU dropping to third with 174, knocking Grambling down to fourth with 137
• Lauren Aikens from Jackson State is ranked number one in the league for top hitters with 53 hits, ASU’ s Meagan Dixon places second place this week with 45 hits and JSU’s Vickie Nelson trails behind with 43
• Jackson State has the lowest team ERA recording 3.74, Texas Southern trails with 3.87 and Grambling State ranks third with 5.25
