Congratulations Class of 2015! Young Black men: bring your cap and gown and celebrate this incredible accomplishment with your friends and family!
For many young men from Chicago’s African American communities, there are countless roadblocks that stand between them and a high school diploma. In fact, only 41% of Black males in Chicago graduated from high school in the 2012-2013 school year.
However, every year there are several hundred students that demonstrate an astounding ability to succeed, despite the obstacles before them. With the Mass Black Male Graduation, we celebrate the accomplishments of these students, and assist them in their journey into adulthood.
On June 20, 2015, we expect about 250 Black male high school graduates from our surrounding communities, along with distinguished elders and proud loved ones, to gather in celebration of these young men’s incredible accomplishment and prepare them for life after high school.
After the ceremony, 2015 high school graduates will have an opportunity to:
- Learn about job, internships, apprenticeships, and scholarships
- Open bank accounts
- Connect to mentors
- Network with leaders in their communities
Each graduate will receive 3 complimentary tickets.
