CSU president on exclusive list (1991 hits)

WILBERFORCE — Central State University President Dr. Cynthia Jackson-Hammond has joined the exclusive ranks of the nation’s top Businesswomen to Watch, selected by Bizwomen, a publication of the American City Business Journals.

Bizwomen’s “Top 100 Women to Watch” honor recognizes some of the most respected female business executives in the United States for their impact on their company and their community. Jackson-Hammond was selected from more than 1,000 leaders.

Jackson-Hammond, who has led Central State University since 2012, is the university’s eighth president and first female president in its 129-year history. Notable advancements achieved by the University under her administration include:

— Federal designation as an 1890 Land-Grant University promoting science, technology, engineering, mathematics and agriculture (STEM-Ag) degree program offerings and research and extension services for local farmers and neighboring communities;

— Ten year re-affirmation of accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools;

— Accreditation of CSU’s College of Business by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP);

— Creation of the Teacher Education Advisement & Partnership Center that supports the matriculation of graduates to licensed professionals in education;

— Construction of a $33 million, 85,000 sq. ft. Student Center hosting a 500+ seat dining hall, computer labs, a bookstore and administrative offices;

— Recognition as the fifth most affordable university in the nation for out-of-state students resulting from the reduction in out-of-state surcharge fees of more than 70 percent;

— CSU was named 45th in the nation for scholarships and was named in the 2016 Best Schools Report by GoodCall.

The Bizwomen recognition joins other regional and national awards garnered Dr. Jackson-Hammond. They include the Dayton Business Journal 2015 and 2016 Power 50 honoree, which recognizes the most influential women in the Dayton region; and the prestigious 2016 Female President of the Year award among all Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) selected by HBCU Digest.
