The Miami Heat have beaten the San Antonio Spurs 95-88 in extra time to win their second consecutive NBA championship.
Playing at home on Thursday at the American Airlines Arena, the Heat claimed the final game to win the series 4-3.
LeBron James with 37 points in addition to his 12 rebounds, was the team's highest scorer, while teammate Dwyane Wade added 23 points and 10 rebounds to the total.
Tim Duncan scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Spurs while Kawhi Leonard added 19 points and 16 rebounds.
James was named the most valuable player of the NBA final series, a distinction he also claimed in last year's competition.
This is the team's third NBA title after winning the championship in 2006 and 2012.
In 2012, the Miami Heat, who were the Eastern Conference champions, beat the Western Conference champions the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-1.
