<dt><h2>Class Description</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt;">CCBC is currently seeking an individual prepared to teach General Biology (Molecules and Cells) and Anatomy &amp; Physiology courses lecture and lab.  Ability to teach other biology classes a plus.  Candidates with a breadth of knowledge and able to teach other general biology courses are preferred.  Fifteen credit hours of instruction per semester, office hours, college and community service, and ongoing professional development are required. The position is located on one of our campuses but may require teaching classes at other locations scheduled during days, evenings, or weekends.<br>  <br>Preferred candidates are enthusiastic about content and pedagogy, use best teaching practices, and are committed to student learning. <dt><h2>Minimum Requirements</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0 0 8pt">Master's degree in Biology or a related field with significant relevant coursework required.  Two (2) years of experience teaching Biology at the high school level or above preferred. <br> Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work effectively with colleagues and students. Experience working with diverse populations in a learning environment and experience with the use of technology in teaching science.  <br> Must be able to operate Biology laboratory equipment.<br> Must be prepared to teach General Biology, and Anatomy &amp; Physiology.</p></dd>
<dt><h2>Class Specific Essential Duties</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt; margin-top: 0"><li style="margin: 0">Facilitate and support student learning by developing and providing clear and effective instruction using traditional and technology-based instruction.</li><li style="margin: 0">Meet all classes as assigned during instructional periods. Basic teaching load is 15 contact hours each week.</li><li style="margin: 0">Communicate effectively with students by disseminating academic information including syllabi and academic policies and by responding to e-mails and phone calls from students in a timely manner.</li><li style="margin: 0">Provide opportunities to meet with students (office hours) at least one hour each week for scheduled or unscheduled meetings for each three credits of teaching contact hours.</li><li style="margin: 0">Provide effective and appropriate assessment with prompt qualitative and quantitative feedback.</li><li style="margin: 0">Keep instructional materials and student work organized and accessible.  </li><li style="margin: 0">Maintain the Learning Management System site, providing students access to syllabi, grades and other supplemental course material.</li><li style="margin: 0">Support students and other college units and comply with relevant state and federal laws (nominate tutors, write letters of recommendation, refer students to counseling, assist students with special needs, suggest library purchases, help resolve registration issues, maintain student privacy).</li><li style="margin: 0">Collaborate with colleagues in ongoing curricular development including content update, curricular alignment, assessment activities and record keeping.</li><li style="margin: 0">Collaborate with staff by completing and submitting reports and documentation in a timely manner.</li><li style="margin: 0">Attend and participate in committee, departmental, College and School meetings.</li><li style="margin: 0">Provide College and Community Service through collegial and individual initiatives.</li><li style="margin: 0">Maintain and develop professional expertise through ongoing professional development or scholarship.</li></ul></dd>
