<dt><h2>Class Description</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0"><span style="color: inherit">Seeking an individual to teach within the Criminal Justice Studies program. Full load (30 credit hours) of instruction during the Fall and Spring semesters, college and community service, student advising, departmental support, and ongoing professional development are required. The position involves teaching classes primarily on the Catonsville campus and online. The position has an on-campus presence requirement of a minimum of two days a week. Preferred candidates are enthusiastic about content and pedagogy, use best teaching practices, and are committed to hands-on student learning. Best consideration will be given to applicants who present evidence of excellence in teaching, experience at the Community College level, and ability to teach a variety of criminal justice courses.</span></p><br><br> </dd>
<dt><h2>Minimum Requirements</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><p style="margin: 0;"><span style="color: inherit;">Education and Professional Requirements:</span></p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"><li><span style="color: inherit;">Master’s degree in criminal justice or related field is required.</span></li><li><span style="color: inherit;">Five years’ experience in the field of community or institutional corrections is required.</span></li></ul><br><p style="margin: 0;"><span style="color: inherit;">Teaching Requirements:</span></p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"><li><span style="color: inherit;">Two years of </span>college level or academy-entry-level teaching <span style="color: inherit;">preferred. </span></li><li><span style="color: inherit;">Online teaching experience preferred.</span></li><li style="margin: 0 0 10pt;"><span style="color: inherit;">Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses related to, but not limited to, Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminology, Juvenile Justice, Social Justice, and Ethics.</span></li></ul><div style="margin: 0px 0px 10pt; text-align: center;"><strong>For best consideration, please apply by January 16, 2026.</strong></div></dd>
<dt><h2>Class Specific Essential Duties</h2></dt>
<dd><p></p><ol style="margin-bottom: 3pt"><li><span style="color: inherit">Facilitate and support student learning by developing and providing clear and effective instruction using traditional and technology-based instruction.</span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Meet all classes as assigned during instructional periods. </span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Communicate effectively with students by disseminating academic information including syllabi and academic policies and by responding to e-mails and phone calls from students in a timely manner.</span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Maintain required office hours per College policy.</span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Provide effective and appropriate assessment with prompt qualitative and quantitative feedback.</span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Keep instructional materials and student work organized and accessible.</span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Maintain Learning Management System (e.g. Brightspace) site, providing students access to syllabi, grades and other supplemental course material.</span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Support students and other college units, and comply with relevant state and federal laws. </span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Collaborate with colleagues in ongoing curricular development including content update, curricular alignment, consistent assessment practices and record keeping.</span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Collaborate with staff by completing and submitting reports and documentation in a timely manner.</span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Attend and participate in committee, departmental, school, and college meetings.</span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Provide College and Community Service through collegial and individual initiatives.</span></li><li><span style="color: inherit">Maintain and develop professional expertise through ongoing professional development or scholarship.</span></li></ol></dd>
