Director of Information Technology
The Director of Information Technology is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of MSP’s information technology infrastructure, systems, and services. This individual will provide vision, leadership, and management for the IT department, ensuring the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of technology to support academic, administrative, and research missions. The Director will drive technological innovation, manage IT projects, ensure data integrity and security, and foster a culture of service excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Planning:
o Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategic plan that aligns with MSP’s overall mission and goals.
o Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, recommending innovative solutions to enhance teaching, learning, research, and administrative efficiency.
o Lead the development of institutional and departmental IT plans, policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure security, compliance, and operational efficiency.
o Maintain, monitor, and report on campus technology use.
o Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budget to meet current and future needs ensuring that the department is delivering high quality services in the most cost-effective way.
o Purchase equipment and other supplies according to institutional needs, budget allocations, and following all policies and procedures.
o Understand that disruptive work may need to be completed during MSP closures and after typical business hours.
o Coordinate and support after hours IT support.

Infrastructure & Operations Management:
o Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the school's network, servers, and cloud infrastructure.
o Ensure the high availability, performance, and security of all IT systems.
o Manage IT help desk operations, ensuring timely and effective support for faculty, staff, and students.
o Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans for IT services.

Team Leadership & Development:
o Mentor and supervise the IT Support Specialist, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
o Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and support professional development opportunities for IT staff.
o Promote a strong customer service orientation within the IT department.

Project Management & Innovation:
o Lead and manage complex IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet defined objectives.
o Implement project management methodologies and tools to ensure efficient execution.
o Foster innovation within the IT department, exploring new technologies and solutions to address needs.

Academic Support:
o Act as site administrator for institutional educational technology (e.g. Moodle, Turnitin).
o Work with vendors for ongoing support, updates, plugins, and problem resolution.
o Assist staff, faculty, and students in accessing and troubleshooting instructional technology resources.
o Provide administrative and technical support for all instructional technology.
o Develop and maintain online instructional technology resources on current best practices, innovations, and emerging trends for faculty and students.

Security & Compliance:
o Establish and enforce robust cybersecurity measures to protect school data and systems from threats.
o Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA, GLBA) and industry best practices.
o Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
o Manage Emergency Notification Technology systems and procedures.

Vendor Management & Collaboration:
o Manage budgets and vendor relationships responsibly, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and transparently. Seek out cost-effective solutions, negotiating favorable terms when appropriate, and consistently delivering high-quality services that align with the college’s standards and fiscal priorities.
o Collaborate with school departments, faculty, and administrative leadership to understand their technology needs and provide appropriate solutions.

• Assist with school events: Orientation, Open Houses, Conferences, Career Fair, Graduation, etc.
• Participate in shared governance through committee service and/or other engagement.
• Attend meetings, trainings, professional development, and other events.
• Treat all members of the MSP community with respect, professionalism and courtesy.
• Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive campus culture.
• Adhere to all MSP policies and procedures and relevant legal and ethical standards.
• Be open to new ideas, technologies, and changes that support MSP’s strategic plan.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, and 3 years of IT experience

OR

5 years of progressive IT experience (no degree or less than Bachelor’s level degree).

• Experience managing enterprise-level networks and server environments.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard, and Student Information Systems (SIS).
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and strict adherence to educational privacy laws like FERPA and GLBA.
• Proficiency in managing Google Workspace for Education or Microsoft 365 environments.
• Ability to create a multi-year technology roadmap that supports MSP’s mission.
• Experience developing departmental budgets and negotiating with vendors.
• Ability to explain complex technical issues to "non-technical" audiences.
• Experience leading larger-scale deployments (e.g., campus-wide Wi-Fi upgrades or system migrations) on time and within budget.
• Ability to respond to emergencies or perform system maintenance during evenings and weekends.

Salary starting at $85,000. Final compensation will be commensurate with experience and technical certifications.
