<span style="font-family: Arial"><h2 style="text-align: center">Program Coordinator for Residential Inclusion and Leadership Education</h2><h3 style="text-align: center">University Housing - Residential Life </h3><h3 style="text-align: center"> UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS - URBANA - CHAMPAIGN</h3><br><h4>Job Summary</h4>Plays a key role in advancing the mission of University Housing and is a key member of the Residential Inclusion and Leadership Education team within Residential Life / University Housing. Supports the development, implementation, evaluation, and administration of both formal and informal educational programs focused on student involvement, leadership skill development, inclusion, and belonging within the residence halls. Using a residential curriculum model, delivers educational experiences that promote cultural competence, community engagement, and leadership readiness. Supervises student paraprofessional staff who support residential programming. <h4>Duties & Responsibilities</h4><p><strong>Inclusion and Leadership Education</strong></p><ul><li>Develop, implement, and assess lesson plans aligned with the residential curriculum, with specific emphasis on cultural competence and community engagement.</li><li>Evaluate educational strategies and programming to ensure alignment with learning outcomes related to inclusion, belonging, and leadership.</li><li>Develop, plan, coordinate, and evaluate tailored cultural, educational, and leadership programs that support the varied needs of residents and the mission of University Housing.</li><li>Assist with full time staff training and development in areas such as belonging, leadership education, cultural competency, and student advising.</li><li>Engage in University Housing’s bias and intolerance response by designing and implementing restorative educational responses as a result of complaints filed.</li><li>Facilitate restorative justice programs focused on inclusive decision making, accountability, repair of harm, and rebuilding trust.</li><li>Serve as a liaison to Student Affairs units supporting inclusion, intercultural relations, and leadership education (e.g., Illinois Leadership Center, Office of the Dean of Students, Illini Union, cultural houses and resource centers).</li></ul><p><strong>Advising and Mentoring</strong></p><ul><li>Provide structured advising, mentorship, and educational support to multiple student organizations, ensuring that all student groups receive responsive and inclusive support.</li><li>Teach leadership skills to student group members to support effective community engagement, event planning, and residential programming.</li><li>Provide cultural and educational programming through work with Housing student organizations.</li><li>Plan and chaperone state, regional, and national leadership conferences and educational trips.</li><li>Maintain a flexible work schedule, including frequent evening and weekend commitments with students</li></ul><p><strong>Supervision</strong></p><ul><li>Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student paraprofessional staff aligned with residential curriculum goals, especially related to inclusion and belonging.</li><li>Design and deliver annual training and ongoing weekly professional development for student staff.</li><li>Conduct formal and informal performance evaluations; address team issues using conflict management strategies.</li><li>Collaborate closely with Residence Hall Directors on curricular strategies for the halls.</li><li>Supervisors engage in and implement University Housing’s inclusion, culture, and climate initiatives</li></ul><p><strong>Administrative</strong></p><ul><li>Assist in coordinating the University Housing fall student move in program and student residential fundraising initiatives.</li><li>Manage program budgets and train students on financial processes, including budget development and purchasing procedures.</li><li>Maintain accurate tracking of curricular efforts, financial processes, and student data using appropriate technology platforms and database systems to document student interactions, monitor community trends, and support data informed decisions while applying a thorough understanding of departmental processes to ensure accurate workflows, enhance administrative efficiency, and improve residential student support.</li><li>Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.</li></ul><br><h4>Additional Physical Demands</h4>This position involves multi-tasking and navigating around campus effectively in a busy and unpredictable environment. Work will take place in a variety of office, meeting, conference and residence hall environments. <br><br>This live-off position involves a flexible work schedule that includes representing University Housing at events and programs held during daytime, evening, and weekend hours.<h4>Specialty Factors</h4><ul><li>Bachelor's degree. A total of two (2) years (24 months) in education, training and/or work experience in Education, Community Engagement, Public Service, Social Work or Student Affairs.</li><li>Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating educational programs and/or workshops. </li><li>Experience advising or supporting individuals or groups, including but not limited to students, staff, or student organizations in any environment (i.e. students seeking personal or professional development, students navigating community or campus climate concerns, staff serving as student organization advisors, or student organizations seeking guidance).</li></ul><p>(Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)</p><h4> Preferred Qualifications</h4><ul><li>Master’s Degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling, Social Work, Social Justice Education or a related field.</li><li>Two or more years of full-time experience in Residential Life or Housing.</li><li>Experience engaging with a wide range of employees and students from varied backgrounds and experiences.</li><li>Experience designing and facilitating inclusive leadership and/or inclusion education programs and/or workshops.</li><li>Experience developing inclusive leadership lesson plans.</li><li>Experience supervising.</li><li>Experience planning large-scale programs, administrative processes, and/or events.</li><li>Experience advising student organizations that serve and engage all students, including groups formed around shared backgrounds, interests, or community experiences.</li><li>Experience teaching.</li><li>Experience managing conflict.</li><li>A valid driver’s license to drive students to leadership conferences and programs in University vehicles.</li></ul><h4>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</h4><ul><li>Excellent interpersonal, communication, and cross-cultural competency, including presentation and training skills.</li><li>Knowledge of student learning, student development, and identity development theories.</li><li>Familiarity with outcomes-based education.</li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment.</li></ul><h4>Appointment Information</h4><p>This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 6/1/2026. The budgeted salary range for this position is $52,000 to $55,000.
