This individual will lead the operational and strategic aspects of global scientific communications, including publication planning and execution, and medical affairs content development, as follows:</h2><ul><li><h2>Development and execution of global publication strategies and plans aligned with medical affairs objectives.</h2></li><li><h2>Integration of publication planning with evidence generation and medical strategy.</h2></li><li><h2>Oversight of publication vendors and agency partners, including coordination of publication discussions and maintaining relationships with editorial staff at key journals and scientific societies.</h2></li><li><h2>Leading development and execution of a regionally aligned One Content Plan, coordinating inputs and timelines across global and regional stakeholders.</h2></li><li><h2>Leveraging artificial intelligence, as appropriate and in accordance with applicable policies, to improve efficiency and enhance scientific communication and visibility of scientific data.</h2></li><li><h2>Management of publication-related budgets, vendor contracts, and publications management system.</h2></li><li><h2>Tracking and reporting of publication performance metrics, developing plans to address any deviations.</h2></li><li><h2>Ensuring scientific and knowledge information management related to publications is communicated and shared via SharePoint and other platforms.</h2></li><li><h2>Leading publication planning meetings to proactively seek information and clarity in collaboration with key stakeholders (GMAL, SEL, Market Access Lead, R&amp;D, regional lead) to develop and shape the publication strategy with full endorsement from the broader team. Ensure publication plan is validated with 3M and CDT.</h2></li><li><h2>Coordinating among GMAF, R&amp;D, regional, and statistical teams on the generation of data for secondary publications.</h2></li><li><h2>Oversight of the creation of publication extenders such as plain language summaries, infographics, research summaries, and visual/audio abstracts.</h2></li><li><h2>Management of encore process and publication proposals (ie, 2-pagers) prior to project initiation to ensure strategic alignment.</h2></li><li><h2>Understanding of embargo and copyright rules of key congresses and journals.</h2></li><li><h2>Identifying data gaps and leading publication gaps analyses.</h2></li><li><h2>Establishing and facilitating publication steering committees and meetings.</h2></li></ul><h2>The Director, Scientific Communication Lead is accountable for:</h2><ul><li><h2>Deliver a robust global publication planning process, ensuring compliance with J&amp;J Cross-Pharma Policies and SOPs (e.g., Publication SOP/System, Methods Review).</h2></li><li><h2>Provide strategic input into Integrated Evidence Generation Plans, with a focus on publication deliverables.</h2></li><li><h2>Achieve successful execution of publication plans and scientific communications in partnership with GMALs/SELs, CDTs, DAS Leads and other strategic partners.</h2></li><li><h2>Manage publication-related procurement and vendor relationships.</h2></li><li><h2>Facilitate effective collaboration with internal stakeholders (Medical Affairs, R&amp;D, regulatory, outcomes research, statisticians) and external partners (investigator authors, academic institutions, agencies, consultants).</h2></li><li><h2>Ensure timely and compliant sharing of key publication data to cross-functional business partners to enable internal preparation prior to congress presentation(s) or journal publication(s).</h2></li><li><h2>Oversee creation of abstracts, posters, oral presentations and manuscripts, ensuring clarity on expectations for hands-on content development as needed.</h2></li><li><h2>Ensure timely and effective facilitation of responses to journal review comments.</h2></li><li><h2>Lead pre-congress and onsite slide reviews and speaker preparation for scientific meetings.</h2></li><li><h2>Review and create other scientific communication strategy documents as needed (e.g., FAQs, slide decks, briefing documents).</h2></li></ul><h2>Essential functions:</h2><ul><li><h2>Lead and coordinate the development of robust publication plans for compounds/products, reflecting prioritized regional and local needs.</h2></li><li><h2>Ensure all publications are developed in accordance with company policies, industry standards, and best practices.</h2></li><li><h2>Manage publication vendors and agency partners, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of publication outputs.</h2></li><li><h2>Maintain relationships with editorial staff at key journals and scientific societies.</h2></li><li><h2>Track and report publication metrics and develop action plans to address performance deviations.</h2></li><li><h2>Support the integration of publication planning with broader medical affairs and evidence generation strategies.</h2></li><li><h2>Manage publication-related budgets and contracts.</h2></li><li><h2>Provide guidance and mentorship to team members on publication processes and best practices.</h2></li></ul><h2>Qualifications:</h2><ul><li><h2>Advanced degree required (Masters, PharmD, PhD)</h2></li><li><h2>Minimum of 8 years of experience in medical publications, scientific communication, or medical affairs</h2></li><li><h2>Strong project leadership, organizational, and communication skills</h2></li><li><h2>Experience managing publication vendors and budgets</h2></li><li><h2>In-depth knowledge of study methodology, data analysis, and critical review of scientific publications</h2></li><li><h2>Global mindset and ability to partner cross-culturally and regionally</h2></li><li><h2>Proven ability to deliver results in a complex and evolving environment</h2></li><li><h2>Critical thinking, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity required</h2></li><li><h2>Ability to influence without direct authority</h2></li></ul><h2>Additional Information:</h2><ul><li><h2>Frequent interactions with internal and external stakeholders</h2></li><li><h2>ISMPP certification preferred</h2></li><li><h2>Approximately 20% travel (domestic and international) may be required</h2></li></ul><h2></h2><h2>The anticipated base pay range for this position is $160,000 - $276.000.  Our expertise in Innovative Medicine is informed and inspired by patients, whose insights fuel our science-based advancements.
