The mobile app, built with Datatel’s MOX development tool, is fully integrated and can be used by prospective students, faculty, staff, alumni, current students and campus visitors.
Anyone can download the application to receive news feeds and event feeds, as well as to access campus maps and directions, building information and important telephone numbers.
Users with valid “MyNSU” accounts can get even more information, including course lists, personal notifications and the campus directory. The MOX application is available on the Android Market for Droid phones, on the Apple App Store for iPads, iPhones and iPods and on Blackberry App World for the BlackBerry phones.
“Educational institutions have come a long way from banning cellphones in classrooms to accepting the pervasiveness of smartphones and tablets in classrooms and on campus. Currently, more than 40 percent of our network bandwidth is consumed by traffic from mobile appliances,” said Dr. Adebisi Oladipupo, NSU Chief Information Officer. “I consider it a dereliction of duty if we don’t tap into this resource for the benefit of our students, faculty, staff and NSU community. Hence the development and launch of this mobile application,” he said.
By adding the mobile application to its technology arsenal, the University moves its capabilities forward. “NSU crosses another milestone in using technology to avail its business and wonderful educational opportunities to the world.”
