
WHO: Clark Atlanta University (CAU) will convene more than 140
historians, intellectuals and activists from 50 institutions to
discuss the legendary former CAU faculty member and administrator
W.E.B. Du Bois’ body of work in 30 panels during a
landmark four-day conference:
Special Guests Include:
•Arthur McFarlane, great-grandson of Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois
•Michelle Duster, great-granddaughter of Ida B. Wells
•A’Lelia Bundles, great-granddaughter of Madam C.J. Walker
•Dr. Charlayne Drew Jarvis, daughter of Dr. Charles Drew
•Literary giants Sonia Sanchez and Amiri Baraka, who will read rare poems and prose by Du Bois.

WHAT: Participants will discuss the life, work and legacy of Du Bois as
scholar, author and social engineer and the global implications of
his contributions for 21st century scholars and activists. The four-
day conference agenda also includes a ground-breaking for a bust of
Du Bois on the campus where he wrote his seminal publications.
