https://www.nsu.edu/university-advancement... The Norfolk State softball program will host a fall academy this year for players ages 8-18. The academy will meet on four consecutive Sundays beginning in late August and will cover four different sessions: beginning and advanced hitting as well as beginning and advanced pitching.
Cost of the academy is $120 per session (for all four weekends) or $200 to combine both the hitting and pitching sessions. To sign up for the academy, fill out the registration form and mail it back to the address located on the form. All checks must be made payable to NSUAF-Softball.
The first installment of the four-week academy will take place on Aug. 25, with subsequent meetings on Sept. 8, 15 and 22. The beginning hitting session runs from 9-10:30 a.m. each of those four Sundays, followed by beginning pitching (11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.), advanced hitting (1-2:30 p.m.) and advanced pitching (3-4:30 p.m.). All sessions will be led by NSU head coach Heidi Cavallo, assistant coach Amanda Haverman and current NSU players. Participants will work on pitching and hitting mechanics and techniques throughout the entire length of the academy. Those participating in the pitching sessions must bring their own catcher. A certified athletic trainer will be on site for every session.
