Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) has announced that it was chosen to continue its work with the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) and the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities’ (NIMHD) Accelerating eXcellence In Translational Science (AXIS) program.
“We were successful in obtaining $15.5M over five years funding with an outstanding score,” said Dr. Jay Vadgama, Principal Investigator of the grant. “I would like to express my most sincere gratitude and thanks to the entire AXIS Team that includes former and current members and the CDU leadership for this successful outcome. We are also very grateful to our partnership with NIMHD.”
AXIS is the integrated “home” for clinical and translational research. AXIS houses experienced leadership as well as a myriad of clinical, translational, community-partnered activities, well matched by the education, training, and technology resources and excellent research core services. In the next five years, CDU will continue building a research infrastructure that will promote multi- and interdisciplinary collaborations between CDU investigators and community partners targeting health disparities.
