Dear LU Family,
Langston University's annual homecoming celebration concluded Saturday. The last week has been filled with events and activities that have embodied the homecoming theme, Forever A Memorable Experience.
Students enjoyed the activities throughout the week, while alumni flocked to the Langston campus to enjoy festivities on Friday and Saturday. This is a testament to the abiding affection that the students, faculty, staff, and alumni have for this university. Students, faculty, staff and alumni joined together once again to celebrate our great Langston University and the memories that are made here.
Homecoming attendees enjoyed homecoming traditions such as the Gospel Fest, Midnight Madness, homecoming concert, Greek Step Show, President's Scholarship Gala and the homecoming parade. Tradition continued with the coronation of Mr. and Miss Langston and organizations across campus holding reunion receptions.
We experienced a successful win at the homecoming football game against Wayland Baptist University. Our students played like true lions, and their excitement intensified the audience's experience. Senior quarterback Mark Thigpen led the Lions to victory this Saturday as Langston defeated Wayland Baptist 38-7.
It takes a team to organize Langston University's homecoming each year and there are many people to thank for the amazing experience that was F.A.M.E. The Office of Student Affairs took charge, organizing the celebration and worked closely with the Student Government Association to plan events. Many staff, alumni and students served on various committees putting in countless hours to bring homecoming to life. For each experience at homecoming, there is a group of people to thank for its success. Thank you to all who have worked so hard to make Homecoming 2014 a memorable experience.
We want to say a special thanks to the homecoming committee and each subcommittee who began homecoming preparations in April. The homecoming committee put in well over 200 hours ensuring that this outstanding week of events came to fruition. It is their hard work and dedication that made it all possible. On behalf of the entire campus community, and especially our students who directly benefit from your outstanding dedication, thank you!
As always, it was a joy to see students, faculty, staff and alumni come together and celebrate Langston University. We look forward to doing it all again next year!
Go Lions!
Sincerely,
