Most people go to college to get an education, but a lucky few end up getting a little somethin' somethin' extra out of their tuition dollars – their soulmate.
Knowing that 28 percent of married college graduates attended the same college (at least according to Facebook data from 2013) gives us hope that more starry-eyed lovebirds will make out in a pub and so too find their future spouse while at school, which is why with Valentine's Day right around the corner, we figure what better way to kick off the week than with a ranking of lovey dovey college traditions.
Now you may be reading this thinking that subjective measures of love and romance have no place when it comes to a real Romeo and Juliet-type romance, but let's be real: sappy lore is always worth laughing about this time of the year.
College Ranker released its list of the "25 Most Romantic College Traditions" this week, publishing a decisive list of 25 campus spots nostalgically remembered for their romantic atmosphere. Of the college destinations that made the cut, the Crim Dell Bridge at College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, ended up at No. 25.
Rumor has it your love will last forever if you cross the bridge with your significant other and follow with a kiss. However, if for some reason you and you and your partner break up, the girl must push her lover over the railing of the bridge or else she will be cursed with a long life of solitude. Should you cross the bridge alone, you're also destined to be lonely for the rest of your life. Depressing, eh?
The 24 other most romantic college traditions revolve around iconic destinations like the Rose Well House at Indiana University, Shoe Tree at Murray State University and Lover's Lane at Clemson University. Check them all out here.
