What is the first thing you’d like to tell us about yourself?
My name is Sophia Seabrooks and I am from Laurel, Maryland.
Tell us a little about your current HBCU classification?
I am currently a freshwoman at Bennett College for Women in Greensboro, North Carolina majoring in Journalism and Media Studies.
What influenced you in choosing to attend and HBCU?
When making my college decision, I wanted to continue the legacy of attending an HBCU which first started with my grandparents and then my mother.
What do you enjoy about Bennett College?
Choosing Bennett College has allowed me to value the importance of sisterhood and experience the diversity of each of my Belle sisters. I enjoy learning about the actuality of journalism that my professors in this department expose me to. This gives me a realistic idea of my future journalistic goals.
What do you plan to do with your college education?
It is my dream to one day become a successful journalist both on and off screen.
What advice can you offer to future college students?
My advice for future college students is that before you pick a major, do thorough research to make sure that major is the best fit for you!
