The Medgar Evers men's and women's track and field teams were back in action this past weekend as they traveled to Pennsylvania for the Annual Penn Relays hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field. The Cougars were led by their women's 4x200 meter relay team who had the best finish in their heat among all relay teams. They finished in third place.

The Cougars had three women's relay teams, 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400. The four women team of senior Sciancia Metelus (Petionville Haiti), junior Keyanna Miller (Queens, N.Y.), sophomore Rashel Anderson (Queens, N.Y.) and CUNYAC's most recent rookie of the week, freshman Maureesha Stewart (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had their best finish of the day in the 4x200 when they edged out two other schools in their heat to take third place with a time of 1:44.52. In their other races, the 4x100, they finished 8th in a very competitive field that had four division I schools with a time of 50.52 seconds. In their 4x400, it was Metelus, Miller and Stewart along with sophomore Jeffanie O'Garro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) as they finished in 7th place out of 11 schools in the CTC division with a time of 4:10.39.

On the men's side, the Cougars ran in two relay races, the 4x100 and the 4x400. In the 4x100, the Medgar Evers team of senior Jamal Chance (Gouyave, Grenada), juniors Johan Jimenez (Santiago, DR) and Shaquille Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman Maurice Swaby II (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished last in their heat. The field contained three division I schools as the Cougars finished with a time of 45.92 seconds. Junior Omolade Akinde (Lagos, Nigeria) and freshman Kishon Boston (Brooklyn, N.Y.) replaced Swaby II and Jimenez for the 4x400. They finished 13th out of 15 schools in the CTC division in a time of 3:30.80. Track & field is back in action this Saturday when they head to Queens, N.Y. for the St. John's Invitational.
