1. Where are you from? Who introduced you to HBCUs?*
I am from Los Angeles , California and my mom actually introduced me to HBCU's she is a Tuskegee and Florida A&M Alumna.
2. Why did you choose an HBCU over a pwi?*
When you're in an environment where you feel like more than a number and actually have a professor call to check on you and people around you who love you like family why would you want to go anywhere else?
3. What is the story of your "experience" at Your HBCU given its heralded status as a stellar and prestigious institution?*
My story is entitled flow into your calling. In middle school, high school I wasn't always the best student, wasn't always the young woman who did her best! College allowed me to have a new journey, Dillard gave me a chance to succeed and rise above the stigma they place on African American but especially African American women.
4. "First time" experiences at your HBCU?*
OMG; Fried Chicken Monday, Catfish and Gumbo Friday; The parties, homecoming itself , there is literally so much I can¡¦t just put it into one thing.
5. Who are the professors that have impacted your life in and out of the classroom? How did they do that?*
Dr. Jeff Benjamin and Mr. Robert Mitchell and Mrs. Malana Mitchell because they caused me to think out of the box and made me work for my dreams while supporting them. They made me strive for the excellence I didn¡¦t see in myself yet. They've become such staples in my adult life and I literally have so much to thank them for!
6. What do you feel is most beautiful about you?
My spirit. I love everyone with a motherly effect. It's like I truly cherish everyone and have a big heart for others.
7. When and how did you discover your passion in life?
I discovered it through a lot of tears and actually my first college roommate and now bestfriend who told me to look at what I'm great at and transform it.
8. What's your take on life (in the philosophical sense)?
Focus on the promises of God and not the process you're going through to get there.
9. How did your HBCU prepare you for a diverse workplace?
It made me see how hard I truly did have to work just for the spot. Then you have to work within the workplace to make it better.
10. Entrepreneur? Tell us about your business.
I have a skincare company of 100% shea butter named Glaze Skin Care. IG is @glazeskincare and Twitter is @careglaze! It's literally my baby and I have been grooming everything to the Tee! Never let anyone tell you that you can't be an entrepreneur because of your age they are not important at all.
