Students at a Westchester middle school are dedicating their Monday to ‘STOMP Out Bullying.’
There is a new mural in the stairwell at Albert Leonard Middle School in New Rochelle promoting the initiative.
The mural, created by a parent of two students at the school, has a message of promoting kindness.
Larry Minetti, a teacher in The Bronx, spent about a month during his summer vacation at the school putting the mural together.
Students say the mural is a reminder for them to prevent bullying in all forms, including digital abuse. "What really helps are the little things of what you say everyday and it makes a difference," says student Emma Farley. "It inspires kids when they look at that mural that one word could change a kid’s day entirely," adds schoolmate Jonathan Alvarez.
The national nonprofit group STOMP Out Bullying is so touched by Larry's efforts to help end bullying, the group is honoring him today at the school. The organization is also promoting its 11th Annual World Day of Bullying Prevention on Oct. 1.
