Taylor Morton, C’2015, was recognized by the North American Association of Environmental Education as one of 30 rising environmental education leaders under age 30. The Environmental Education 30 Under 30 program highlights the work of young professionals using environmental education to create change in their communities.
A staunch advocate of environmental education, Morton currently serves as an environmental consultant and contractor for WE ACT for Environmental Justice, where she creates curricula and facilitates programming related to environmental health, equity and environmental justice.
“Growing up in a family of outdoors people who liked to hunt and fish, I was aware that we were the only Black family that spent a lot of time outdoors,” she said. “While at Spelman, I became more aware of the stigmas about the environment, and barriers to access for communities of color. This sparked my interest in breaking down those stigmas and barriers.”
