The Step Afrika!¡¦s Magical Musical Holiday Step Show opens on December 14 and closes on December 30. The event is open to the public.
Howard University alumnus and Step Afrika!¡¦s founder, C. Brian Williams, presents the holiday-themed show, Step Afrika!¡¦s Magical Musical Holiday Step Show. The festive spectacular takes place Friday, December 14 through December 30, 2018 at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington, D.C.
Williams proposed the question, ¡§why celebrate the holidays sitting still when you can step with Step Afrika?!¡¨

Brian Williams founder and photo credit Over the last seven years, this internationally-renowned percussive dance company has created a contemporary holiday tradition at the Atlas, featuring friendly, furry characters, pre-show instrument-making workshops, photo ops, and even a dance party.
¡§Step Afrika!¡¦s Magical, Musical Holiday Show gives young people (and the young at heart) the opportunity to make noise, dance on stage and connect with the artists like no other holiday show I have seen,¡¨ says Williams, who understands the importance of highlighting the African and African-American dance and step during the holidays. He noted that stepping has barely been featured in ¡§art form¡¨ at any previous holiday performance.
¡§The creation of Step Afrika!¡¦s Magical, Musical Holiday Step Show allowed me to play with the African-American tradition of stepping in new and exciting ways¡K I also believed that audiences, especially those 13-years-old and under, want an interactive environment, and an opportunity to not only make music with Step Afrika!, but to also get up and dance,¡¨ says Williams.
The interactive performance takes place throughout the theater, allowing every guest to get a glimpse up close and have a good time. ¡§For each performance, we [will] begin the ¡¥experience¡¦ as soon as the audience enters the Atlas Performing Arts Center,¡¨ says Williams.
Prior to each show, guests are able to bring their children to the theatre 45 minutes early to have fun creating drums and other percussion instruments. Guests will also enjoy ¡§DJ Frosty the Snowman¡¨ spinning records. Throughout the show, Williams knows that every guest will sing, smile, take photos and dance in the ¡§snow.¡¨
